I'm not a photography expert and have only used this hood a few times, but I think it is a little too short to be effective. I shot some pictures in the same location with this hood on and off and was not impressed with the results. The shots were only slightly improved and still had glare in the pictures. I will try using it in other locations and will report back if I find any change. Another big negative is that no other lenses with it. This is a 10 cent piece of plastic that cost me over $20. I regret making this purchase.

This hood only fits the camera well if you are NOT using a filter. It would be better if you could use it over a 67 mm filter. Because my camera was new when I ordered this, I did not realize that in advance.

I use this on a Canon SX30IS. It effectively kills those sunbeam streaks. For my camera usage in the woods, hilly terrain, and slippery river banks, I get a lot of peace of mind for lens protection. Good fit on the camera and is reversible if you need it out of the way but available.
